Michigan Art Coast Half Marathon and Town Crier 10k/5k
June 17, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pmCost:
We have some exciting news to share! We have taken steps to greatly increase the exposure of your sponsorship by attracting more runners and visitors to the beautiful Saugatuck and Douglas area.
We have teamed up with Peter Gower, an accomplished businessman, marathoner and owner of The Palette Art Gallery. His vision to add a Michigan Art Coast Half Marathon, Kid’s Fun Run and Dog Walk to our traditional Town Crier 5k and 10k races will open up the event to many more community members and visitors.
The festivities will also now showcase both of our beautiful cites by including Douglas in many of the race/walk routes. In addition to the races, Peter is also organizing a weekend Michigan Art Coast Craft Beer festival in Beery field where the races will finish. There will be plenty of craft beer, food and art to attract runners and non-runners alike.
The Town Crier Race proceeds have historically provided 100% of the budget for Saugatuck High School’s award-winning Track and Field and Cross Country program. With our event improvements, we are hoping to double that funding as well as assist in the economic development of our area.

What some happy runners have to say:
I’ve been coming to Saugatuck for years and recently discovered the Town Crier 5k. It’s the perfect way to start a weekend in town. The course, starting and ending on the river, is shaded and beautiful. It’s exhilarating having so many people cheer on the runners! – Jason
I have been running the 10K race at this event for many years. I really enjoy the course and the small town involvement. The 10K course is very challenging at the beginning but ends easily with a mostly down hill finish. – Jim
I have been volunteering at this race for several years in different capacities. It’s a great group of people to spend time with! It’s enjoyable cheering on the participants, from runner/walkers to stroller/wagon riders, for such a worthy cause! – Carol
