The 26th year of the Triple Crown series is upon us. Use this opportunity to compete in three of West Michigan premier events:
Spectrum Health Irish Jig - 03/17/2018
Brian Diemer Family of Races - 06/9/2018
Reeds Lake Run - 06/23/2018
The Gazelle Sports Triple Crown Series is a group of three road races in Grand Rapids and East Grand Rapids, Michigan. The series includes the Spectrum Health Irish Jig, Brian Diemer Family of Races, and Reeds Lake Run.
This series is open to all businesses, educational institutions and other similar groups. Each organization may enter as many teams as it wishes. Runners may participate in one, two or all three legs, but teams must enter and finish all three races to be eligible for the overall awards.
Team captain registration must be done online prior to individual team member registration
• Division I must have at least five runners to score as a team.
• Division II must have at least four runners to score as a team. • Teams are limited to 10 runners. • This is a low-score-wins event. • A Triple Crown Medal will be given to each runner who completes all three races.
New this year:
Individuals can now participate. Complete all three events to be eligible for a finisher medal. Pay only $75.00 for all 3 races! (normal fee for all three is $90.00. You save $5.00 per event.)
To participate, runners must work at least 20 hours per week as employees of the organization for which they are competing. Retired employees and spouses of full time employees also are allowed to compete for the organization. Teams may be co-ed. There is no male to-female ratio requirement.
Runners that compete on a team during the Spectrum Health Irish Jig may NOT switch teams for the Reeds Lake Run and Brian Diemer Family of Races. However, you may substitute new runners as replacements for the Reeds Lake Run and Brian Diemer Family of Races as long as your roster does not exceed 10 runners. Rosters for organizations with only one team cannot exceed 15 runners. A team may not include runners who have already competed for another team.
All employees participating in the Gazelle Sports Triple Crown Series must compete for the same organization throughout the series, even if they change jobs during the year.
Each race will have a general registration area with a posting of all Gazelle Sports Triple Crown participants’ names and their assigned bib number. Each team member may pick up his or her packet. If one individual is to pick up all team member packets, that person will need to know each participant’s name, age, gender and date of birth in order to locate all assigned bib numbers.
Everyone who completes all three races will receive a Triple Crown Medal at the Huntington Reeds Lake Run. Those who are competing as teams will receive a Triple Crown Medal as well as a 20$ gift certificate to Gazelle Sports. Gift certificates can be picked up at the Reeds Lake Run or Gazelle Sports. Electronic social media images will be distributed for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams for each race. As well as an electronic social media image for the over all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.
For each team, the top five (Division I) or four (Division II) finishers, according to their place in their age group, will be combined for that team’s race score. In case of a tie, the team’s next nonscoring runner with the fastest time will be used as the tie breaker.
After completion of the Reeds Lake Run , team scores for all three events will be combined to determine each team’s overall standing for the Gazelle Sports Triple Crown Series.
Please note that the Gazelle Sports Triple Crown registration deadline is the WEDNESDAY before the event. You must register online to participate on a team. No exceptions will be made.
