In Their Words

Meet Kimberly

Running has been a huge part of my life, starting in 5th grade joining cross country. I started out not being one of the fastest runners on the team, actually for quite a few years. But through time, miles, and investment from coaches I have grown a lot as a runner and am really proud of how far I have come. Over the last couple of years, I have grown an interest in the marathon having now completed 3 with a PR of 2:44:39 and am looking forward to seeing what is to come, especially in the marathon.

Kim’s 2024-2025 Performance Highlights: Kim had an exceptional 2024, setting personal bests in both the half marathon and full marathon. She PR’d in the half marathon at the Rivertown Races in Grand Rapids with a time of 1:19:03. Later in the year, she crushed her previous marathon PR at the Berlin Marathon, finishing in 2:44:39 and becoming the 8th American to cross the line–improving her previous marathon time by 1:57.

Kimberly's Favorite Running Memory

My favorite running memory probably is not an actual race or an accomplishment itself, but rather the relationships and friendships I have built through running. When I think about what I love about running it is the laughs, jokes, and conversations shared with so many incredible people while running. Running has given me a huge community, and that has been the most special part of what has come from it all.
