Allison Land - Holland

Journey to Movement:

I've never really considered myself an athlete, though I played soccer from the time I was in kindergarten through my Sophomore Year in High School (when I got cut from the JV team because I was too slow of a runner on the field). I would have done anything to get out of running the mile in gym class. Fast forward a few years and I was out of shape, inactive, and overweight. That's when I decided that I should try this running thing (it was free, and I could just throw on my $20 pair of Walmart shoes and get it over with). I slogged along the very flat path near Lake Superior and completed a run/walk style of training. I ran a 5k, and then another, and then joined Gazelle Sports run camp and trained for (and completed) a half and a 25k and then a full. Since that first 5k, I've learned a lot, now love the sport of running, and have become the healthy, active person I am today!

What is your favorite go-to meal?
Pasta or Quinoa with sauteed asparagus, fresh tomatoes, kale, bell peppers, chickpeas and all sorts of seasonings. Really any sort of base that I can throw all sorts of vegetables at is the best.

What is one thing people may not know about you?
I minored in technical theatre in college and even worked in the scene shop/for the electric shop for a while there. Musical theatre is my second love (second only to running).
