Journey to Movement:
I've always been active, however the connection between movement and mental health has become more and more evident in my adult life. A lifelong lover of the water, I swam competitively in high school. I was running in the off season to stay in shape, and one of my teachers caught wind of it and challenged me to do the Bayshore Marathon with him. Completing it began a chain reaction of marathons, ultra marathons and triathlons that has taken me to where I am today. I love how being active makes me feel, and what it does for me mentally, physically and emotionally. It is a very prominent part of my life, and with a family of my own, it's important to me to be a role model to those around me in many ways, movement being just one of them.
What inspires you to move:
- The feeling after movement is an irreplaceable form of therapy for me. Whether it be a walk with family (or alone with my thoughts), or an intense workout, I find myself craving the feeling I get when it's all said and done.
Favorite go-to meal:
- Tacos. They're easy to make and incredibly customizable.
